Only 3 days left until I walk into Santiago. I am excited about getting there and I am excited about getting home. Next Friday, I fly out!
Day 28 was a walk from Sarria to Portomarin, which is only about 14 miles. The weather was good. There were a few challenges on the terrain, but nothing I was not anticipating from my previous experiences. I mentioned yesterday, that the path gets crowded after Sarria because that is where the tour companies start. Because of that, I got up very early to get going at 6:00 AM to avoid the crowds. It worked out well, except that I got to Portomarin before my albergue opened. I had to wait an hour. I met up with a lot of my friends before laying down for a bit. There was a pilgrim’s mass at 7. By 8:30ish, I was settled in for the night.
Day 29 took me from Portomarin to Palas de Rei, which is about 16 miles. Very uneventful day. Weather was good. There is a pilgrim’s mass at 7:00, which is also the Vigil mass for Sunday! Yay! I assume I will meet up with my friends at some point, but Palas de Rei is larger town so I might not. Regardless, I will send pictures of the evening activities on the next post.
Honey, I will be home soon!
