I can’t believe it! I have finished 25 days of walking. One week from today, I walk into Santiago. Only 7 more days of walking!
Day 24 was a walk from Ponferrada to Villafranca del Bierzo, about 15 miles. It was not difficult, but it was pretty hot and there was not a great deal of shade. There were only a couple of difficult ascents.
Day 25 WAS DIFFICULT! In my opinion, it is probably the most difficult ascent of the entire Camino, even more than the first day. I walked from Villafranca to O’Cebreiro, about 18 miles. O’Cebreiro is one of the prettiest places on the Camino. It is a medieval town that, by legend, held the Holy Grail (the cup Christ drank from at the Last Supper). The distance was not the problem! In a little over 5 miles, you ascend about 2,000 feet. It’s a killer, but well worth it when you reach the top and see the views from O’Cebreiro. I will have to wait until the next post to show those views as I am too tired to walk back to the place where I can take a picture!
I miss my family, my friends, my bed and my AC!! I’ll be home soon, honey!!
