Oh my, we’re in the 30s!! Days 30 and 31 are done, which means TOMORROW I WALK INTO SANTIAGO!!!! Just to close the loop on day 29, I was able to get to Mass at 7:00 on Saturday night to celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity. I then spent the evening with my friends and we all talked about the fact that the journey was approaching the end!
Day 30 took me from Palas de Rei to Arzua. This was about 19 miles. This would be my last big day. The weather has continued to be wonderful and there is no end in sight. It appears that we will end up with only one day where rain had any impact on the walk. God is good!! I got another early start, to avoid the crowds and it worked out well. In the pictures along the way, it should be evident that the trail is very crowded. I remember this from the past, but this time there seems to be a lot of teenagers. It think it related to the fact that I am walking at the end of their school year (May/June) as opposed to the beginning of the school year (September/October) as I have done in the past.
Day 31 was a walk from Arzua to O Pedrouzo, which is a mere 12 miles. Tomorrow will be about the same. I actually slept in knowing that it was a short day. However, I wish I had not because it was very crowded on the trail.
I think I will NOT sleep in tomorrow and try and get an early start to beat the crowds into Santiago. Several of my Camino family have the same plan so it should be fun ending the trek with a number of friends!
I love you, Honey, and I will see you on Friday!!
